You might have a long way to go, but a good Japanese tutor will lead you there.
Private lessons proceed based on your own ability and progress. There are certainly good vibes in a language school classroom, but the lessons there need to fit many people at once.
In private lessons the teachers will structure lessons to best suit your personal language goals. Please try our private Japanese lessons.
Our Approach
Efficiency
Although we try to keep our lessons predominantly in Japanese, our teachers can give explanations in English if needed, so your questions will never go unanswered. Our bilingual teachers can analyze Japanese by comparing it to English or other languages.
Relevance
We strongly believe that you should focus on learning the Japanese which will be most beneficial to you. We teach you how to express yourself in contexts most relevant to you. It’s no good to simply repeat some phrases from a text book. We will address your personal interests and needs in Japanese!
Practicality
We value your time and effort, so we want to teach you something practical. For example, every textbook introduces “nakereba naranai” as an expression meaning “have to” or “must”. But, we prefer “naito ikenai” because this phrase is more commonly used and easier to learn. With our experience we can quickly identify the best thing to teach.
Our teaching
Materials
We don't have specific textbooks to use. Please tell us a textbook you like. Otherwise, your teacher will choose a good one for you.
If you don’t like to use any textbooks, don’t worry. We’re prepared to provide you with slides, worksheets, flashcards and so on.
Levels
We are comfortable teaching any level of student from a complete beginner to rusty in Japanese or advanced.
We also teach all types of lessons from daily conversational through to business or JLPT preparation.
JLPT preparation
We highly recommend early preparation. One year ahead is ideal. What you study for a test is also useful for your daily use of Japanese. Put them into practice while studying for the test. But even if you’re really urgent, we’ll find you a way.
You should study kanji and vocabulary by yourself. If you do that, you can use lesson time with a teacher more efficiently to learn grammar and reading.
